Commercial Electrical: electrical equipment and assessment
NEXT STEP

What this means for your property

Provide machinery specifications and simultaneous demand. Ask whether any supply changes require network-operator involvement.

What an assessment can establish

A workplace installation needs coordination with the people responsible for access, shutdowns and equipment. A failed circuit can affect trading, security or essential systems. Survey information should identify the loads and working constraints so testing and installation can be planned around the site.

When the issue needs assessment, our commercial electrical page describes the scope and preparation for that work.

Information to have ready

Send a site plan, equipment loads, previous reports and an access or shutdown schedule.

Apply this guidance to the next step

Use the appointment process to agree access and the purpose of the visit. For another question about the same system, read What Does a Commercial EICR Cover?.

Do not remove covers or touch exposed electrical parts. If there is smoke, fire or an immediate danger to life, move away and contact the appropriate emergency service.

Further information

General guidance cannot establish the condition of your installation. Arrange an appropriate assessment before deciding on work.
